Today I confess to being a bad blogger. OK, maybe not a bad blogger but probably a lazy, errant, forgetful, absentee blogger. I have 2 children (my main source for possible blog posts) who constantly warn me "Don't put that on your blog!", but since it's been so long since I posted, they don't say that anymore. Now they warn "Don't put that on Facebook!". And so, dear children, I think I will start posting on the blog again. Bwa-ha-ha-ha!
I will try to post at least once a month and it may be about the kids, or work, random thoughts, or haiku. I need to start writing again.
For starters, we are now owned by a dog. He is a cute little thing; rescued at 9 months, he came to live with us at 10 months of age. He has been with us since August of last year. He sleeps with hubby and me and is very considerate and sleeps by our feet and always the same direction as we are sleeping. Until last night. Actually, he slept in the right direction until 5 this morning when he decided he had to go outside and check out the snow levels. He woke up his favorite door-person, me, checked the snow level, watered it, and when we went back to bed, he decided to sleep crossways. Not a horrible problem since he is pretty small but he could've moved about 6 inches to the center of the bed! I couldn't get comfortable after a few minutes and ended up getting up at 6 a.m. on a Saturday morning. Now most days of the week, I am up and getting dressed at that time but this was a Saturday morning!
So today is the start of a brighter blogging future for me. Notice that I didn't write about any of the charmingly cute or royally annoying things the kids did, and if the dog continues to sleep crossways, you'll be finding many more posts from me.

Is it just me?
So, is it just me or does anyone else find humor in a plus size women's store having a "doorbuster" sale? I received a postcard from such a store (we'll call it Catie's, OK?) the other day notifying me of their big (pardon the pun) upcoming sale. Do they think it's going to take us that long to gather speed to get to the store, perhaps re-fueling at the closest place selling food? Are we supposed to bulk up so we can truely bust the door as we swarm in? Why would I want to bust a door? What's it made of? Steel? Glass? Cardboard? Spun sugar? What has the door ever done to me? Do I need to send this to Jay Leno?

New year, new blog
I created this blog the other day. The instructions said it would be really quick and easy and within minutes I would be blogging away. Riiiight. Actually, once I figured out that I must have already had a Google account and got the link to change the passworld (WHAT password??), it did go really fast. But by then, I had places to go and things to do. Once I got back home and had the time, I was drawing a blank as to what witty and entertaining thing I could write. I didn't want to start out with a whiny, complaining post about annoying people, I didn't want to be cutesy, merry sunshine either. I had blogger's block.
So in order to get this blog on the road, I will simply report what I did today, dear diary.
The day started out at 12:00:01 at the New Year's Eve/Game Night party held at church. We all piled into the nursery to watch the new ball in Times Square light up, sang a verse or two of "Auld Langsyne", did a conga dance, cleaned up after partying for 5 hours straight, drove home and put 2 really tired kids to bed at 1:30 a.m. Thanks to my highly efficient internal body clock, I woke up at 5:20 a.m. and started wrapping presents to exchange with friends later in the day.
Later in the day, after the kidlets and hubby were up, we went over to a friends house to visit and craft while the kids ran amok. It's a simple but workable plan. There were 4 of us at the table, one knit, one crocheted, one cut rubber and the other beaded. We stopped only to eat our traditional lunch of Hoppin' John, salad greens and corn bread. The lucheon conversation really hit it's stride when on of those dining mentioned that she had harvested mushrooms growing in her bathroom yesterday. I wanted to ascertain what variety the mushrooms were; perhaps SHItake??? Turns out she has a moisture problem in the secondary bathroom. We went back to crafting, exchanged gifts and ate again. After dinner, things got really wild and the menfolk brought out the Oxford Unabridged Dictinary and looked up words. Did you know that "knit" had another, totally different meaning? It does. By this time, we decided to break up the party before we got too carried away. So here I am, sitting in the dark save for the blue-ish glow of the computer screen, kids in bed, hubby watching TV in nano-second bits as he relentlessly hits the Channel Down button on the remote and I think I hear the dryer going. All is calm, all is bright. May this day be a harbinger of what the rest of 2009 will be like. I think we could all use a change from 2008. So long, farewell and amen.
